Card class day 3

Ta da!! Here are the final two cards from my economical $10 card class last night. I introduced them to the wonderful world of circle cards. Did I mention that I had 9 people come?! It started with only 5, then with only a few days before the class people kept calling/e-mailing me if they could bring a friend. How can I turn people away?! Good thing I bought another folding table! ;)

Materials: All CTMH. Animal Cookies L2pp, Creative Basics Animal Cookies Collection, Say it in Style ss, *New* Dream Big ss, clover, dutch blue, tulip, black and hollyhock inks, white daisy ricrac, summer buttons, clover marker, Coluzzle.

Card class day 2

As promised, here are two more cards from my economical $10 card class tonight. All of these cards are using layouts from Originals Card Confidence book by CTMH. The first card is a simple 3x3 card. The second card is standard size and I'm going to have them use a different flower stamp than what's shown here. Now that one of my fav SOTM sets, Treasure Life, has a permanent status in the new Idea Book, I want to share with everyone how great it is!

New card class

Tomorrow I'm having my first of a monthly card class I'm starting up. With the economy having it's effect on my customers, I decided to have $10 classes. To start off, I'm having a card class and soon to add scrapbooking classes. For just 10 smacks, everyone will make six cards.

To extend the excitement of my post, I'm going to torture you all by only showing you two cards a day for the next three days. This is a sneaky way for me to get through most of the weekend having posts while I'm busy with the class and going to the Gorge for a Nickleback concert! Ha ha! Sorry to do it to ya!

Hopefully now with these crazy couple of weeks finally winding down I'll be able to get back in the groove of challenges and new creations. I have a BUNCH of new product from the CTMH fall/winter catalog (releasing Sept. 1st!) that I haven't had time to play with yet, along with some other new goodies. Until then, enjoy!

Materials: All CTMH. Backwoods L2pp, Treetops ss, True Happiness ss, Olive, chocolate and outdoor denim inks, cranberry brads, natural hemp, liquid glass, edge distresser, 3d popdots.
Other: Stickles

I had another person want a set of cards from me! Yeah! She wants something that is not gender specific, and here's a "prototype" of what I came up with. Let me know if this is something you'd like a set of, and if you think they're not too girly.

Materials: All CTMH. Notebook L2pp, Shining Star ss, Playful Flourishes ss, Fringed Phrases ss, Serendipity ss, hollyhock, chocolate, and black dye ink, colonial white pigment ink.

Other: EK circle punch

P.S. Here are pictures of the table setting from the Rotary dinner. I'll let you know when Josie has posted the pictures of her DELICIOUS food from that night......my tummy's still happy!

Rotary Dinner Menus

My good friend and Chef, Josie, is making a six course dinner tonight for the winners of a Rotary auction. It's a party of ten, and she asked me to make the menus for the guests that will be at their settings but that they could also take home.

The table decor is going to be simple black table cloth with white linens. For color, she's bringing in flowers from the local farmers market in Mount Vernon. So to mirror the color choice of the dinner I made the menus with MAMBI black and white dp, then a splash of color with the embossed banding and sponged edges. I still have loads of these white bigger brads, but to make them more interesting I stamped them with some Stazon.

Materials: DP--MAMBI, cs, inks, Fringed Phrases and Playful Flourishes ss, and brads--CTMH, vellum, embossing plate--Spellbinders, computer fonts.

Who needs Hallmark anyways?....

......evidently NOT the Hallmark lady that merchandises my Safeway store! She had asked me to make a card for her for her grand-daughter. Ha ha! How's that for irony?!

I had always seen Lola coming in my store, and I had asked her what she does with all the cards that she takes off the shelf. She replied that she has to throw them away! What?! That's silly! So I asked her if Hallmark is willing to donate them. Since I work with multiple non-profit groups, I thought this would be a great use for the cards. She's still looking into it, but she did give me all the extra envelopes she had! Whoo-hoo! As us card makers know, envelopes can get pricey, so that helped out a lot. She gave me more then next time I saw her that I gave to one of my groups.

As a thank you, I brought in a set of my handmade cards. I guess she liked them well enough that she wanted to hire me for her grand-daughter's card! Her grand-daughter, ASHLEY--not "Angela" as I put on the card! Good thing I fixed it before I gave it to her! I don't know why I had "Angela" stuck in my head--has leukemia and has been in the hospital for the last few weeks for more treatment. She's going to miss her senior year of high school. :(

To make things happy and cheerful, Lola wanted me to make a card that fits Hallmarks biggest envelope (11.5x11.5) and use monkeys, which are Ashley's favorite. I was also informed she's NOT a pink girl. OK, done. I didn't really have a good money stamp, but I did have some of the Animal Cookies dp with a money on it. So I scanned it to my computer and enlarged the image and printed it on cs. Ta-da! Instant monkey cut-out! I though it would be fun to make this a swinger card, so when you shake it, the monkey swings back and forth! I hope she loves it and that it's not to childish for her.

Materials: All CTMH. Colonial white, goldrush, ocean and chocolate cs, Animal Cookies dp, Treasure Life ss, Friendship Alpha ss, Boutique Alpha ss, Intrinsic Backgrounds ss, Serendipity ss, chocolate brads, goldrush, chocolate, sweet leaf, and ocean inks, pop-dots, sanding kit.

Other: Cuttlebug swiss dot folder, SEI ribbon, chipboard. The dot paper is actually the back side of an invitation to a barbeque I saved because I loved the paper. Going green!

FFF challenge--Sew Simple!

This week's FFF challenge over at The Greeting Farm is "sew simple"! The challenge was to use stitching, either real or faux, and go at it! I decided to do both real and faux.....

Well, I FINALLY inked up my Geisha Anya. She was one of the first Anyas I bought a long time ago. I wanted to pair it with this cool paper and flowers I got from Angie.....oh did I mention.....I won her BLOG CANDY!?! I was sooo excited! So anyways, I loved this dp and the flowers were one the first things I wanted to use. I thought Geisha Anya would be perfect with the flowers. Didn't color her hair the traditional black since I wanted it to match the cs and dp.

Materials: Geisha Anya--TGF, dp and cs--Cloud Nine, Crayola colored pencils, EK circle punch, scrap ribbon and floss, 3d foam. CTMH inks, Simple Stitches ss, Thoughtful Seasons ss, Connections ss.

Cards for hire

Nothing new today as I am working on a special project as well as all the challenges over at Club Anya. So I'd thought that I would show you cards I made for my friend Becky.

She had asked me to make her a set of cards that she could have ready at work. I made two sets of 8 with two different paper packs. In each set there are 4 birthday, 2 thank you, and 2 thinking of you. One set is slightly girly, while the other is pretty genderless. I used Vicki's fabby sketch again to design them. I had a lot of left over flower dimensionals, and thought this would be a great way to use them up. Spreading the word about my cards for hire/sale that I hope to be pretty busy.
Materials: All CTMH. Magic Moments L2pp, Emporium L2pp, flower dimensional elements, cocoa, sweet leaf and outdoor denim inks, Thoughtful Seasons ss, Tickled Pink ss, Connections ss, Playful Flourishes ss.
Other: EK scallop and button punches.

"I wanna be like Amy" Challenge

So there is this AWESOME crafter, Amy, that makes the most amazing creations. She alters stamps in her own way, and even designs her own images!! She's also the inspiration for Club Anya's "I wanna be like....Amy" challenge. They so loved her circle card in their image gallery that they created a challenge for us to make one like it.

Here's my take (still loving the CD envelopes):

Materials: All CTMH. Key To My Heart L2pp, Fringed Phrases ss, black ink, markers, rub-ons, Coluzzle.

Other: TGF Miss Anya ss, Crayola colored pencils, Stickles, CD envelope.

WHOO-HOO!! I'm a winner!!

So the plan today was to go home from work and ONLY check my e-mail. No Blogger, Facebook, nothing! It's all been sucking too much time away! Lol! I know you all know how that feels.

Good thing my pal Nona set me an e-mail because I wouldn't have known that I won the Farm Fresh Friday challenge last week over at The Greeting Farm!! To see the "big" announcement, click here. I can't believe they chose my card! I'm so blessed! I would like to thank Marie and the DT at TGF for their fun challenges and AWESOME prizes! Thanks also go to all those who have left lovely comments for me about this card. You brighten my day that my creations make you smile.

Color Chef #17

When I first learned the colors for this week's Color Chef Challenge, I was a little hesitant. I don't really have any DP in Vineyard Berry or Cocoa, but I quickly figured it out.

I had this piece of cs already embossed with my CB folder and decided to use a sponge and die it with my ink. The rest fell together. Scallop Nestie and ribbon in Cocoa, stamped images and MS butterflies in Vineyard Berry, and taha!

I recently saw on Jeanette Lynton's blog this card which used a simple CD sleeve as a card envelope. I found a box of 100 for only $3 at BigLots last week so I wanted to try my hand at this cool idea. I sponged cocoa ink around the center and then 1st and 2nd gen'd the same stamps I used on the card. Cool idea huh? I know you want to try it too! Hee hee!
Materials: All CTMH. Colonial White and cocoa cs, vinyard berry and cocoa inks, Treasure Life ss, Follow Your Dreams ss, Simple Stitches ss, cocoa grosgrain ribbon, sponge, sanding kit.
Other: Nestie scallop circle, Paisley CB folder, MS butterfly punch, pearls.

Mojo Monday #98

Hey everybody! I can't believe the crazy weather in my beloved Pac NW. Today started out grey and gloomy and pretty cold, then about 2pm the sun burned away the clouds and it's a beautiful 67 degrees. Quite the contrast from last Wednesday when it reached 40 degrees higher at 107!! I'm really enjoying the cool, crisp air. Finally able to open my windows and not sweat to death!

Now onto my entry into Mojo Monday #98. I've been straying away from all of my CTMH stuff for a while, so I decided to dip back in. I used the Notebook pp and Connections ss. I wanted a bit of a vintage look, so I used a piece of lace that my Grandma gave me and a metal tag I bought online YEARS ago. Love the Nestie swirl on the bottom. I put liquid glass over it to help it stand out.

Enjoy!

Materials: All CTMH. Notebook L2pp, Connections ss, Playful Flourishes ss, cocoa and hollyhock inks, liwuid glass, edge distresser.
Other: Nestibilities Swirl, Making Memories brad, metal tag, lace

Farm Fresh Friday--Sketch 3

I still can't believe it....this card WON the challenge over at The Greeting Farm!!

This is my entry on TGF's Farm Fresh Friday challenge. This week's challenge is a sketch by Jessica. And yeah, yeah, I know......enough with the Lemonade paper! But I love it so! I wanted a bit of a vintage feel with this card and thought the BG paper fit perfect. It also gave me a chance to use the coordinating brads. I also knew I wanted to try my hand at paper piecing. I paper pieced Miss Anya's boots, purse and headband. Girl's gotta coordinate, right?! A little bling on the boots, purse, and on her hair ties tops it all off.

Materials: Stamps--TGF (Miss Anya) and CTMH (Fringed Phrases and Simple Stitches)
dp paper and brads--Basic Grey,
cs, markers and inks--CTMH,
flowers--silk from Grandma!
misc. embellies--plain brad and sparkles--CTMH, Stickles

Quick Ian card

I started making this card for Club Anya's ANYAversary blog hop, but then I realized it was an "ANYA"versary not an "Ian"versary. Ha ha! Found this paper in my scrap stash and thought it was perfect for Ian and this card.

Materials: Stamps--TGF and CTMH, cs, buttons and inks--CTMH, dp paper--KI Memories, Crayola colored pencils.

ANYAversary Blog Hop!------->CTMH Blog Hop below!!

****If you are looking for the CTMH Blog Hop, look at my next entry (I'm hopping twice today)****

Happy ANYAversary!!

It has officially been a year for The Greeting Farm and Club Anya and boy am I sooo glad I discovered their great blogs! The stamps are even better! ;)

Now on to my contribution to the "ANYAversary" blog hop:

This is "Angel Anya" and my oh-so-favorite Lemonade paper. After I colored her with my colored pencils, I kicked myself because I could have water colored her with my CTMH Juniper ink that matches this paper perfectly. Case in point...the brads are Juniper. Oh well. I didn't have time to re-stamp and color. I also couldn't decide if I should color her dress teal or pink. so I did both. I'm still iffy about it and might change it later. Like all the 'bling' on it though!

Materials: Angel Anya stamp--TGF, Lemonade pp--Basic Grey, brads, ink and sparkles--CTMH, Crayola colored pencils
