Another Challenge filled card

I absolute LOVE this card! Super fun and frilly. This uses some more paper from my RAK from Amy. These were actually the scraps from tomorrow's card, but I wanted to share this card first. The sketch of this card is based off of this card of Amy's. It also follows both the Color Chef Challenge #36 and Crazy 4 Challenges #21 which both ask to use pink. I think this qualifies. ;)

I've also fallen victim to Unity Stamps. The sentiment is from my January Unity KOTM and the butterflies were some of the free singles they sent me when I signed up. Like this company already! Free stuff? You can't go wrong! Another blogger, Naomi first turned me onto these stamps. I like her simple yet spunky style, and Unity stamps were usually the culprit.

Color Chef #17

When I first learned the colors for this week's Color Chef Challenge, I was a little hesitant. I don't really have any DP in Vineyard Berry or Cocoa, but I quickly figured it out.

I had this piece of cs already embossed with my CB folder and decided to use a sponge and die it with my ink. The rest fell together. Scallop Nestie and ribbon in Cocoa, stamped images and MS butterflies in Vineyard Berry, and taha!

I recently saw on Jeanette Lynton's blog this card which used a simple CD sleeve as a card envelope. I found a box of 100 for only $3 at BigLots last week so I wanted to try my hand at this cool idea. I sponged cocoa ink around the center and then 1st and 2nd gen'd the same stamps I used on the card. Cool idea huh? I know you want to try it too! Hee hee!

Color Chef Challenge #16

Here's my entry for Kelly Jo's CCC#16. The colors are Moonstruck, Crytal Blue, Grey Wool, and White Daisy. I don't have any Moonstruck paper, so I found this piece of shimmer cs in my stash. I really wanted to use one of my Thickers, so I thought framing the stamped image with one was perfect and it also added the Grey Wool look I needed.

This is another birthday card I can add to Josie's request for a mixed set of Bday cards. She hired me to make 5 so far for her upcoming birthdays. Including this card, it actually makes 6 that I've completed for her. Yippee! Hope whoever gets them loves them!

Color Chef Challenge #15

The color inspiration for Kelly Jo's Color Chef Challenge #15 came from a pretty rad curtain from Anthropologie. We have a store here in the University Village near the University of Washington. I fact, my pal Josie and I were just there on Monday! Lots of fun stuff.

The colors for this challenge are pink, white, and yellow. I recently bought some Thickers for only $2 at Big Lots. Yep $2. Whoo-hoo! I love a deal! I've been waiting for a good project to use them on. I think that I'll use the majority of them on scrapbook pages just because they're so big. This swirl worked great for this card. Didn't really have a bright yellow paper, so I used my Buttercup cs and RS the design in Honey to add more yellowness. There's liquid glass over the stamped flourishes and the white dots to kinda mirror the shine of the Thicker.

Color Chef Challenge #14

GOING TO SEE HARRY POTTER TONIGHT!!

Fun colors for this weeks Color Chef Challenge over at Kelly Jo's Stamp Pad. Brown, Turquoise and Orange. I've had this crazy paisley ribbon for a while and this was just the reason to use it. I was also able to use up some more of my scraps. Paired perfectly with the paisley CB folder and an old MM flexi label I've had ...... for a while, and viola! A birthday card for my dear friend Jann.

2AM??! I know...I'm crazy!

So, I'm leaving for Wenatchee in eight hours and instead of packing I decided to make a card for Kelly Jo's CCC#11. Am I an addict or what? Lol!

For this weeks Color Chef Challenge the colors are white and bamboo. I wanted to use some of my rub-ons, so I decided to go with bamboo as my base. To get the label shape I cut one out with my Nestie and then used it as a mask to create the background. I then used a white pen to outline and define the shape. This will be a great card to have on hand.

Congrats to Kelly Jo who's had a blog milestone and posted her 10th challenge! This week's Color Chef Challenge is to use black and white with a color of your choosing. My fav color is green, and I wanted to make this one fun and punky like me! The check background was originally plain, but I stamped green designs in it to help with the color theme.

After placing an order on Friday night at The Greeting Farm, would you believe that I received them in the mail on Monday?! That's AWESOME! What bums me out is that I didn't check my mail until this morning, so I missed a whole night of play. Oh well. So I bought 3 Anya stamps and this super cute Reeta stamp. I loved that she reminds me of myself and that she has a cat too. In honor of my cat, Simon having a positive visit to the vet yesterday I decided to ink up the Reeta stamp first so I could color the cat to look like him.

***Simon update....he hasn't lost more weight (which is good), but hasn't gained any either. His skin color is less yellow (also good) and he is becoming more active. He's even started to chew on items that he know he's not supposed to (back to his ornery self).

Color Chef Challenge #9

Two Anya's in one night?! Yippee! This card fit perfectly into Kelly Jo's CCC #9 of cranberry, honey, black and white. Another friend graduated from Central Washington University this week. I don't know if the honey color is really one of CWU's colors, but the card definitely needed it. Did you notice that the yellow dp is the same as the other Anya card? Waste not, want not. Don't you just love the glittery Prima?!

Color Chef catch-up, with a Mojo

You know you're a blog addict when....you come home on lunch to eat, but end up posting a new entry. It was perfectly sunny again today, so I wanted to take a picture before it moved.

This is for the Color Chef Challenge #8 from last week. This is a great combo for a Father's Day card, so tah-dah! I had fun with some old-school embossing on the bottom half. You can see the detail in the second picture. I also used the sketch from the Mojo Monday #89 for the design. It was a fun layout, but I don't know if this is the card I will submit on their site. I might make another one.

Yep, decided to enter the Mojo with this card. No time to make another before there was no more room for entry into the Mojo Madness contest. Hopefully I have a chance this time!

Color Chef Challenge #7

This card is for the CCC #7 from TWO weeks ago!! I know....mega late, but I totally loved the color combo. I sat on it for quite a while though. I knew I wanted to use my new Impressability die, and thanks to YouTube I was finally able to find the right combination to run it through my Cuttlebug properly. ;)

I found the pieces of ribbon scrap in my large ribbon box that has been "unearthed" in the move to the new scrap space. I must say that it's hard to scrap when your stuff is in limbo. I want to paint the walls the new scrap/guest room before I move everything in. Hopefully on my day off on Monday. I toyed with putting more embellies on the card, but decided to keep it simple and clean. (well, not so clean if you find my stamping goof) I 2nd-g'd my Intrinsic stamp behind the sentiment in olive to add more interest.

New toy!!

Yeah!! I got my new Impressibilities in the mail today! I couldn't wait to play! Isn't it SUPER fun?! When I saw these at Cut at Home, I had to have them. I bought this butterfly plate and a flower plate that I will make goodies with later. This was a great excuse to make a card for Kelly Jo's Color Chef Challenge #5. I used the watercolor technique to stamp my butterfly. Just simply ink up your stamp the way you want, then spritz it with water before you stamp it. It gives your image a really cool blended watercolor effect.

So, how I used the Impressie......

I ran the plate with the embossing mat through my Cuttlebug to emboss the image. Then I simply sponged creme brulee ink all over with the darker goldrush ink on the outer edge. This really made the image pop. Can't wait to try it with darker cardstock and sanding. You can also use the plate like a letter press (which will take me a few tries to figure out).

Color Chef Challenge #3

Yeah! I love this color combo! Kelly Jo's color challenge this week was Watermelon/Sunflower/White/Black. I had a lot of fun creating this card. I also had the perfect accent that has been patiently waiting in my stash. Aren't those flowers cute?! The two square epoxy stickers have also been chillin in my stash for-ev-er.

The Originals book helped with the layout on this. I used the "stage right" sketch. The only Sunflower paper was the patterned paper from the Magic Moments kit so I used my Cuttlebug paisley folder to match. Then I used my Spot on Backgrounds to make the custom dp stamped in watermelon and black then inked the edges in sunflower.

The "Mojo-Chef"

I see why so many bloggers double up on their challenges.....no time! I was hoping to do both the Mojo Monday Week #82 and Kelly Jo's Color Chef Challenge #2 separately, but alas, I ran out of time. After going to a district meeting at one of my fav places, The Rock Woodfire pizza, and suffering through the resulting food coma, I was finally able to work on these challenges. The Color Chef Challenge is to use tulip, sorbet and white daisy. I thought the inspiration picture looked more like goldrush instead of sorbet so I went with that instead.

I also got to use my NEW items from the Summer Idea Book that the nice UPS man delivered today! Yeah! I used the new Buttoned Together ss and clear button assortment. See how I stamped one of the buttons on white cs in goldrush and then mounted it behind the clear button? Cool huh?! I <3>

Now I'm off to visit Mom. She's doing real well after her surgery yesterday and should be home tomorrow night at the earliest.

Color Chef Challenge #1

Kelly Jo over at KJ's Stamp Pad has started this awesome weekly color challenge. Last Monday was the first challenge, and thank goodness she keeps the link open since I just found out about it from Aaron's blog. What fun, vibrant colors! I decided to use Crystal Blue instead of Breeze since I didn't have any Breeze. I used my hole punch to create my faux brads and then covered them with liquid glass. This is based on the Originals sketch, Squares & Overlays. I'm going to try and work on this week's challenge tomorrow so stay tuned.

I made this for my Mom who just had gastric-bypass surgery this morning. This has been a long, life-changing decision for her that she did lots and lots of research on. After years of doing Weight Watchers for her health and to help curb the heart and diabetes problems that run in the family,she plateaued and couldn't loose any more weight. Our family is confidant that this is the best way to help with any current or future health threats. On my way to go visit her now.
