Let's Hang Out-SSSC #104

It's me again! Still at CU having a blast! But I posted ahead for todayto share a fun little card I made using this week's Sweet Sunday sketch. This is one of my favorite Unity images and I knew it would be perfect for this sketch. Good way to use up some more of my Material Girl dp too. For some reason, I have this aversion to using it. Just never feel like it works with what I want to make. But this time it worked great!

I made these fun felt flowers too with some scrap felt I found at Goodwill and my Nestie dies. Easy-peasy! I made a bunch of them while I was watching the Grammys. Always have to be productive while I watch TV!

Materials
Stamps: Unity KOTM
Paper: CC Material Girl dp, CTMH cs
Other: Copics, foam tape, CMTH ink and hemp, Memento ink, EK punch, felt, Nestie, misc. button, pebbles

Real quick

Just a quickie post to let you all know I'm still here. Been so busy that all I want to do when I finally get home is veg or sleep.

I made this card on a Valentine card making binge I went on this last weekend. I knew this Unity image would make a great Valentine card! I was also able to use up some ANCIENT CTMH paper. Yay! and the scrap lace added the perfect romantic touch.

Have a great weekend! Hope to post some more tomorrow!

Grateful

Sometimes I feel that we all go from Halloween straight to Christmas, leaving another important holiday in the dark. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays--mostly because of my Grandma's delicious sweet potato puffs! It's also my favorite because it really helps me put into focus what is truly important in life--family.

It will be another family holiday without my brother. He's still serving in Afghanistan in the Army. I feel like I have to cherish these holidays that much more since he's unable to be with us. All the family traditions and stories are always an important part of my life that I hold dear to my heart every Thanksgiving.

My family has a table cloth that we use every Thanksgiving and every year we write on it what we are grateful for. It's a really cool thing to see that table cloth come out at Thanksgiving and read the past entries. It's become a very unique family heirloom.

So don't forget about Thanksgiving and what you are truly grateful for in life.

I'm still alive.....barely

Hi everyone. Sorry I only posted my DT work last week. Still have a cold. It has now migrated to my throat and has taken my voice. Should make for an interesting first day at my new store. (which I'll touch on more later since I gotta leave soon)

For today's card, I decided to show my Sept. Unity KOTM some love. I need to bulk up my winter cards for the shop, so this cute postage style stamp worked great. I just sponged in some color and used my Copic for some more detail. Nice and simple layout, and I was done!

Gone baby, gone

Another paper pack gone!! Not that the CTMH Miracle kit had "a lot" of paper in it, but hey! it still counts! This image and sentiment are another from my Unity June KOTM. I also used my CTMH Playful Flourishes as a piercing guide for my embellishment in the top right corner.

Paper: CTMH Miracle kit, kraft
Other: CTMH inks and brads, Stickles, EK border punch

Emboss-resist

When I first saw this stamp in my latest Unity KOTM, I knew it would be a fun one to do the emboss-resist technique with. Only draw back was that because Unity stamps are cling-mounted rubber, it's harder for me to line up the images. I have a Stamp-a-ma-jig thingy but have never figured out how to really us it properly. Guess I'll need to search YouTube.

This second picture shows the clear embossing a little better:

Here's a close up of the emboss-resist outcome. I kinda like that the images are off just a bit. Adds more dimension.
If you've never tried this technique, it's really fairly easy and fun. You can just stamp your image in Versamark and then emboss with clear embossing power. Then just use a sponge and ink to rub ink over the image. The ink doesn't adhere to the embossed image, so you only get ink around the image. With mine, I stamped it in Crystal Blue and Cocoa inks first so I could "resist" with the Sweet Leaf and Desert Sand colors.

Last of the Lemonade

OK, I lied yesterday. I guess I only have ONE Lemonade card left to share.
I used it all up! Even the front cover on this card! Lol! Might as well, right? I've been having quite a bit of fun with this Unity image and sentiment. Simple to color, makes for an easy card.
Make sure you stop by my friend Sparkle's blog today. She has some VERY exciting news she's sharing today!!
Enjoy your Sunday. It's a beautiful sunny one here! If I can recover from my late night, I'll take a nice walk and then maybe read out in the sunshine. The concert last night was AWESOME by the way!
Materials
Stamps: Unity KOTM
Paper: BG Lemonade...ummm "dp" front cover? Lol! CTMH Topstitch and Daydream L2pp

Same image two cards

I totally love this "Umbrella Girl" from my Unity KOTM. Super fun to paper piece and a big hit at the shop, especially pair with this Amuse sentiment. I used my new CB folder again. I think it looks cool embossed over the finished card base. I also use both of my newest Nesties. Fun, fun!
It's been so nice and sunny here lately! Finally!! I think summer need the solstice to finally show up!

Stamps: Unity KOTM, Amuse sentiment

Cup overfloweth

Still more with my Lemonade paper..... "almost" done, I promise! I also used my NEW Cuttlebug folder! I first saw this used on this card by Teresa Kline and I HAD to have it! So I bought it with my last round of Nestie purchases from Cut At Home. Love, love, love it!
This card was made with the intention of using more of the BG Lemonade buttons and brads more than the paper. Isn't this image and sentiment from Unity so cute? I think I'll definately be using this combo a lot. The image will also go great with other sentiments, and vice versa with this sentiment. Love the versitility of my Unity Kit of the Month! Speaking of things I love....this ribbon! I only have a few yards of it and have been very sparing with it. Matches perfectly too!
So do you all like my new blog layout? I've been debating for awhile now whether I wanted to take the time and change it. Now that Blogger added all their cool new templates, I played around the other day until I found this combo. I didn't want the background to be too distracting, plus I've been so into cloud images lately. I think the plain white helps my pictures stand out too!

How's it Rollin'?

Hee hee! Aren't these rollerskates fun?! The image and the sentiment are from my Unity May KOTM. Makes the perfect card to sell at the shop.

We have a couple of competitive roller girl squads around here. One down by the shop in Seattle are called Rat City Roller Girls and their rivals are up north by me called Jet City Roller Girls. Now I know why Jet City call themselves "Jet City" since they started out of Everett which is a big Boeing city, but "Rat City"? I'm thinking it has something to do with being in such a major metropolitan city and the obivious furry residents.....

Anyways, hope you enjoy your Thursday. Just another day here.

More for Pappas

I really love this particular Unity KOTM. It's the same kit I used for yesterday's card. Lots of great Father's Day quotes and "manly" images. I paper pieced the tree image. Used up another paper pack again! Yippee! I'm on a roll! ....too bad I bought some more.....gotta replenish though, right?! Hee hee!

Totally {heart} this card!

Isn't this sooo bright and fun?! The whole time I was making this card I had a silly happy smile on my face. The image is so adorable and I love the green/orange/pink color combo.

Another night for Survivor. It's getting very cutthroat now! So much back-stabbing and flipping that I can't keep it all straight. I just want to see Russell go. I'm done with him.

2 takes on Sweet Sunday #64

I very rarely make square cards, and I don't know why. They're really cute and fun! This sketch is based of the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #64 from a while back. I tried to do something a little different with my Copics on this first card. I started by coloring the edges of my Nestie cutout with my dark purple, and then added the lighter by blending it together, and then I used my blending pen to "bleed" the color inward. It was interesting. Don't know if I'll ever do it again though. What do you think?

I had so much fun making the first cute little number that I decided to make another. Notice that this scooter image is my latest favorite? I really like it on this second card. The colors are very vibrant and fun! The pink circle dp is one of my favorite from this paper pack too.

So you all have fun watching "Glee" last night?!! I soooo missed Kristen Chenoweth! Her character is (as my friend Christine put it) "delightfully tacky". Lol! This was a very warm-and-fuzzy episode. LOVED Kurt and his song! Also loved the talk his dad had with Finn. Sad to see Kurt so hurt over them getting along though. Can't wait for next week!

Scoot on

This scooter is so fun! This time I gave it white-wall tires. Hee hee! I totally forgot I had these fun felt flowers and bright green buttons I bought from my LSS.

Speaking of my local scrapbook store.....IT'S CLOSING!!! Whaaaatt?!?! This is one of the last independant scrapbook stores left in my area. I really thought it was doing well. They even expanded last year. Guess they weren't doing that well..... Eventhough they were primarily a scrapbooking store, I would find fun things like this flower and they had a pretty large die-cut selection to cut your own images. I'm sad. Guess it'll be better for my Close TO My Heart business though! Optimisim!

You Rock! C4C#33

This little jutebox image is so fun! Paired with the sentiment, it's even better! I've been avoiding this particular sheet of dp from my BG Lemonade stack. I don't know what it is about it. I just wasn't a fan. But it works great on this card! The layout for this is based off of this week's Crazy 4 Challenges #33 which is a sketch challenge.
Survivor tonight! And FINALLY, it's the merge! Can't wait to see how the "Heroes" flip out when they realize Russell didn't use the idol like they wanted. Duh! He's a "Villian"!

MTSC #69

I love this scooter image from Unity. So fun. It was part of my March KOTM. I rotated the layout from Mercy's sketch: MTSC #69. I was inspired by my blogging friend Amy to use one of my (many) metal-rimmed tags as one of the elements for the layout. It worked perfectly!

Hope you all have a great Wednesday! One of two card classes tonight for me.

Mom, you rock!

Hee hee! I thought pairing this sentiment with Chelsea was perfect! I totally love Chelsea as a brunette. So cute! This card is made using the scraps from yesterday's card. It also follows this week's Sketchy Saturday challenge over at Club Anya & Friends. This rouched ribbon is soooo pretty and it's another one I bought off of my friend Chrissy at CU. AND!....I got my new Coluzzle oval guide in the mail this weekend! Now I can play with sketches more easily.
Glee is back again this week! Life is now complete! Lol!
